“New Education Policy : Principles and Practices”
A seminar on “New Education Policy : Principles and Practices” was organized by Indraprastha Adhyayan Kendra in collaboration with Nehru Memorial Museum and Library on 29th September, 2019 at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. Intellectuals, academicians, administrators, research-students, entrepreneurs, personnel, etc. of various section of society with social concerns participated in this event. In this seminar, an attempt was made to give a positive form to the ongoing debate about the new education policy in the country and to remove the confusion being spread in its context. The main speaker of the event was Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe (Rajya Sabha MP and President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and Dr. Manisha Priyam (Professor, NUEPA). The seminar was presided over by Shri Ravi Mishra (Deputy Director, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library). The symposium was inaugurated by lighting the lamp with Saraswati Vandana.
Speaking on the subject, Dr. Vinay Sahastrabuddhe said that the new education policy has been framed against the backdrop of all the problems so far. Correct implementation of this education policy will make it possible to liberate this country from Macaulay form of thinking. An attempt has been made to bring unity and inclusiveness in education through the new education policy. Speaking further, he said that there is also a need to understand the relation between education and language. Native languages will also benefit from this policy. Also, by 2025, a total of 50 percent students in the country will be provided vocational education. Multiple exit option is also a welcome step in this education policy. Dr. Vinay Sahastrabuddhe said that there are major challenges before our education system. Referring to his suggestion, he said that there needs to be emphasis on academic audit institute building and foreign language education.
Dr. Manisha Priyam described the new education policy as India-centric and said that it has an equitable sense.
Shri Ajay Kumar (Head of North Zone Intellectual Education, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Shri Vinod Ji “Vivek” (Convenor, Indraprastha Center for Learning) was also present in the program. About 350 learned people attended this seminar. Dr. Aarti and Shri Moolchandra did the successful anchoring of this program.
